So here is the Aussie update: the package has had an "exception" according to UPS and is being detained by the government for some unknown reason that they cannot speculate about. FANTASTIC. And there are no guarantees on when the "one day air" package should be here. Here's an idea: it should've been here a day ago asshole. Quit dickin around. Anyways....I also found out that my uncle passed away yesterday which made for a really long day yesterday because I haven't been sleeping well (who would've thought that I would be complaining about having TOO many days off in a row?!) and then I found out about my uncle. I resorted to eating my feelings at a fantastic bbq place that I had never been too and then crying over some ice cream and then laughing at the new Reno 911 movie. Work was a little tedious because all I wanted to do was crash in bed which was what I did when I got home and slept really well. I get to do it all over again tonight. Yay!

Forgive me father for I have sinned...It has been way too many days since my last blog. Ok I feel better now. Anyways...what have I been up to? Nothing too much other than working the graveyard shift (nothing like work 4 10-hour shifts so that you can have 3 days off in a row!) and going into work when it is dark and coming out when the sun is up. I also got trashed in the middle of the day (actually between the hours of 8am and noon) which has prompted me to procklaim "I never want to drink again!" which will probably be broken very soon so that I can drown my sorrows with my other drama...roommates. Fuck this shit! I'm living by myself the next time I move. I am supposed to have this Aussie moving in and she keeps dickin around and saying that the rent payment is being boggled around by UPS. Needless to say I had to borrow money from moms to cover her supposed portion of rent until it can get here and SHE can get here which supposedly on Saturday. I thought she was supposed to be here last Saturday but I was wrong I guess because there is no Aussie living in my apartment yet. Other than that, I haven't been doing anything exciting. Sorry to disappoint all. I just need to get paid on Friday and maybe my life will be a little bit more exciting such as going back home to Cali on Monday to go to the orthodontist and oral surgeon...that should be fun...and then a potential trip to Disneyland on Tuesday to the "happiest place on earth" to hopefully forget my sorrows for a day and then be thrust back into reality again. Yay...thanks for reading the bitching blog. Have a great day!

I've succomb to joining myspace again. Apparently it is the only way to keep in contact with people and know what is going on with them. However, I am limiting myself to the amount of time I waste on the site. Work is going well. The executive chef actually talked to me for a little bit yesterday and told me that I'm doing a great job and that they really appreciate me stepping up. The guy that usually is on the graveyard shift once again did a no call no show so I am on the graveyard shift this week which hasn't been too bad so far. I made it to the gym today (woo hoo!) and read 2 of my magazines out of a stack of 20 that has built up over the months. Why not kill two birds with one stone and read AND exercise? Sounds good to me. Here are a couple of pictures from when I was back home and went out with my friends. Enjoy!

Apparently since I no longer have myspace I have my life back! I no longer spend countless hours online which in turn my blog has suffered. Apologies to my loyal readers. What have I been up to you might ask? A whole lot. I SWEAR pictures will be coming soon when I get paid on Friday and can afford a memory card for my camera so you can see my buns. I know you've been checking daily to see the picture and your patience will pay off. Last time I blogged I was deathly ill and those nazi bastards at the clinic wouldn't give me any drugs. I suffered for a week and finally made the call to the doc back home who immediately called in a prescription for a Z-pack to a pharmacy here. Thank God. The Z-pack is amazing. If you haven't ever had one, next time you're sick, GET ONE! Knocks those bacterial germy muthafuckas right out of your system. Anyways...work has been good. We had the NBA All-Star game here in Vegas which resulted in city-wide madness. Waaaaaaaaaaay too many people but apparently is brought in $26 million for the city for one weekend. Not too shabby. The city has a couple hundred of my money that I've contributed. Our grand opening is officially officially this weekend on Saturday the 24th with our hostess....Carmen Electra. Be jealous bitches. Not that I'll ever see her since I'm in the kitchen and never get to see anything except for when I'm allowed a bathroom break. Oh I also cut my finger on an emersion blender which is something with a very sharp blade. It didn't require stitches but it was pretty gross. I didn't cry though. There's no crying in pastries. I'm sure I've done a whole bunch of other fun crazy stuff like play bingo (I was one away from winning, bastards!) and drinking at the local bar Oceans Eleven (the OE for regulars) and continuing my credit card debt by purchasing plane tickets to visit my friends but that's pretty much a summary of what I've been up to. I'm giving up French Fries for Lent. One might ask "do you really eat that many french fries?" and if you have to ask, then you're no friend of mine! YES I eat that many french fries asshole because they're delicious. No denying it. I promise to blog more and have pics up by this weekend. Yay for payday coming up but boo for graveyard shifts!

A review of the club came out in one of the local papers and it was fantastic! This resulted in a boom in business for Friday night. I once again was on the graveyard shift and had plenty to do and prep for Superbowl Sunday. However, I started to not feel so well i.e. my throat felt like it was starting to swell shut and my chest was tight. After climbing on top of the combi oven to clean the vents and made sure my station was clean and that the last people had left after 7am I asked to skip out on the rest of the cleaning so I could go to the medical clinic to get checked out. Pretty much the doctor said that I was fine and that nothing was wrong with me and that it COULD get worse but then just to take over the counter cough medicine. No shit sherlock. The whole point of me going there to get checked out was so that it won't get worse and to give me some freakin drugs! Anyways, $25 later and with no drugs in hand I walked out of there. I guess I'll just OD on vitamin C and all that healthy crap to try and beat down the virus. Looks like I'm in for another long night on the graveyard shift...

There is now an official "grand opening" date for our club: Saturday February 24th. Our host: Carmen Electra! Fantastic! I'm super excited not only for Superbowl Sunday coming up and then being booked solid for NBA Allstar Weekend AND now our grand opening. February is going to be crazy and I love it! Pictures of my "buns" coming soon...

Someone keeps hacking into my email account and changing my password. Not cool. I didn't do anything to anybody to deserve this. I mind my own business and am probably one of the nicest people you will ever meet and don't understand why this is happening. Anyways, on a happier note...I was making truffles today and weighing them out to 12 grams each and my chef said that he would give me one more chance to weigh it out perfectly so that I could have the night of the DMB concert off...SCORE! I totally did it and was proud of myself. Then he let me go double or nothing so that I could have a Sunday off in April to go to Nashville for a conference/see one of my really good friends. SCORE again! Damn I'm good. Anyways, if anybody has any advice about the hacker or IS the hacker...please let me know. Thanks!

Stupid myspace. Most people know this already (especially poodonkeys). For what seems like the billionth time myspace has screwed me over. When I was working on the cruise ship I had a problem with people hacking in and deleting my friends. Ultimately, I ended up completely friendless and having people questioning whether I was mad at them and deleted them. After reassuring everyone that I was NOT mad at them and that somebody has no life and hacked into my profile, I managed to regain all my friends. However, now someone has managed to completely DELETE my entire profile. I'm not quite sure how this happens because you have to confirm the option to delete by logging into your email and accepting it. I have neither the time nor the energy to sign back on and search for everyone all over again. I guess it is a blessing in disguise because now I don't have to worry about people snooping on me and I won't be tempted to snoop on anybody else. Thank you myspace for giving me back another hour to my life that I can spend at the gym instead of dealing with this emotional rollercoaster that keeps me in touch with "friends." Fuck that shit. If you're my friend then you have my phone number and I talk to you frequently and you know what is going on in my life and don't need to log onto myspace to see what I'm up to. If you want to see pictures of what's going on then email me or read my blog. I was angry at first but now I feel a sigh of relief like a burden has been lifted off of my shoulders and that I'm moving on in my journey to becoming an adult. woo hoo!

It has been brought to my attention that the title of my blog was misspelled since October and that I needed to fix it...done. Apologies to those that I might have offended and I am slightly embarassed being an English major. Enough of that...more about this weekend! Friday was redonkulous! The club had an open Grey Goose bar from 6-9 and it was packed....yay for business and for those working the graveyard shift, i.e. ME. Saturday was slllllloooooooooooowww and I worked until 7am Sunday morning and then had to be back to work at 3pm. Exhausting but I somehow mustered the energy to go to Forty Deuce at Mandalay Bay to celebrate Freda's roommate's birthday. By the time I got there they already had bottle service and the girls had started dancing. Holy crap they were hot! It totally made me want to be a dancer. Tasteful and just amazing. I got up on stage and shook my moneymaker and had a great time. Our bill came out to $1600....YIKES! My night ended with me going through the Jack in the Box drive thru at 4 in the morning and having to call Megan to decide for me what I should eat. I then ate my late night snack in bed while drunk myspacing (myspace is one of the few nouns that has crossed over into verb status) and also drunk plane ticket purchasing. I had to triple check that I was booking the right days and times to go back home to L.A> I leave the Monday after SuperBowl Sunday to go to a sugar demo and take care of some other business. Nonetheless, some good blogs should come out of it!

I don't remember if I've blogged about this already but: I got tickets to see the Dave Matthews Band play here in Vegas in March! I am so excited because my brother and a couple of friends are coming out and it is going to be fantastic. Only problem is that it is on a Saturday night and currently I am scheduled for graveyard shifts that night. I asked my boss in advance if I could have the day off and his challenge was this: at the time I asked him I was weighing out bread dough at 3.5 oz a piece. He said that if the next piece I cut was exactly 3.5 oz that I could have the day off, not a problem. Well I had been cutting a lot of dough and was pretty sure I knew what the right amount was. I went ahead and put it on the scale...3.4 oz muthafuckasummamambitch! I was so darn close. And to boot, I had just cut off apparently a 0.2 oz piece of it right before I put it on the scale. So close yet so far away...and then he told me to go blog about it. So here I am....blogging about it. Can I have the day off now?! Anyways, I have an old roomie coming into town tomorrow and there is a mega-Grey Goose VIP magazine birthday bash tomorrow which should be redonkulous (reference to poodonkeys accepted). 10pm-close tomorrow, 9pm-close on Saturday, and 3pm-11pm Sunday. Expect a blog by Monday to recap the next couple of days. Have a fabulous weekend everybody! :)

I've decided that I might get more people to read my blog if I posted more pictures. I like pictures. They usually make reading things more interesting so I got a new cell phone with a better camera phone and a memory chip so I can actually put pictures from my phone onto my computer. Welcome to advanced technology I guess. However, I haven't really had too many intersting things to blog about lately because I've been working a boat load and haven't had a chance to go out other than grabbing drinks with co-workers (and we've all seen plenty of pictures of me drinking!) On an interesting side note, I got a letter in the mail today on behalf of former Sportmart employees that there is a class action lawsuit that I can be a part of...who doesn't like free money?

Graveyard shifts anybody? Oh pick me, pick me! So I experienced my first graveyard shift EVER on Friday night. Everything was fine until it got to 3am and I hit a wall. We ran out of flour (blasphemy in pastries!) and I cleaned for the next 3 hours until I got to leave at 6:30am. Trying to go to sleep was interesting. In fact, it was damn near impossible. I managed a couple of hours and then got back up to go back in at 8pm and do it all over again. Saturday night wasn't too bad. I was actually pretty busy up until 5am (tiramisu for breakfast?) and got out at 7am. Not too shabby. I was able to crash immediately. Fantastic! It was one of those sleeps where I awoke fearing that it was going to be time to go to work again but to my surprise only 2 hours had gone by! It was the equivalent of drunk sleep and it was fantastic. However, having to go back into work at 5pm when you had just left at 7am was pretty shitty. That was a long shift and it was pretty slow. I made it home and passed out only having to wake up to go to the dentist at 8am today (seemed like a good idea at the time). My teeth are clean and my face is now numb due to having a cavity (at least it was only one! I eat sugar for a living people...it could've been a lot worse). Seeing that I have today and tomorrow off I am going to attempt the impossible...getting all of my errands done...muahahahha

Worst blind date...EVER! Just kidding. It could've been worse I guess. I was supposed to meet him at the Tropicana until he decided that he would just come to wherever I was first which happened to be at Oceans 11 getting tanked with two of my co-workers. Bad idea and slightly awkward. Anyways...we went to ESPN Zone to eat and where the conversation went from worse to worser if possible resulting in me proclaiming myself a bitch for no apparent reason other than to try and end the misery sooner than later. Really though, he was angry that I had plans to hang out with some other friends after our date. Hello!? I was NOT going to sleep with him so I don't see any reason why the date should last longer than midnite and I could go and see my other friends. However, he stuck through it and we walked over to the Tropicana to see the Bodies exhibition which I had really been wanting to see. What a dissappointment. It was kind of interesting other than the fact that this dude kept trying to grope me in front of the muscle-exposed cadavers. I was trying to be educated and learn something but I had to school this guy on me NOT wanting to see him ever again for the fact that I work completely opposite of what he does and that I didn't think that it would work to which he responded with "if you want it to work, we can make it work"...I don't think so buddy. I'm starting to think more and more that my new year's resolution of celibacy is a fantastic idea...it weeds out all the creepys and hopefully will result in a guy that wants to know me first and won't get upset with me hanging out with other guy friends....yay celibacy!

so here's something to waste your time: what dumb holiday does your birthday fall on? Mine apparently is National Spumoni Day which is kind of fitting since I deal with pastries every day of my life. Hilarious. This is what happens when you sleep all day and decide to not keep sleeping through to the next day and are wide awake at 12:30am. At least I have tomorrow off from work, woo hoo!

The wait is over! We finally opened up the club today and it was awesome. The kitchen ran really smoothly. At one point there was even a "whoa Bundy!" that let loose. I worked 11 hours...yay! I'm super tired but everything went well and I'm stoked to see what is going to happen in the next couple of weeks. We apparently are booked solid for the NBA All-Star weekend and I get to help design a sugar piece for Valentine's Day (although I'm anti-Valentine's Day so we'll see what I'll come up with). Thanks for all the love and support from everyone and I can't wait for everyone to come out and see the club and eat the great pastries that are coming out of our kitchen (the other food is pretty "kick-ayass" too...the term "kick-ayass" is courtesy of poodonkey) Good night ...or morning I should say...and I'm sure there are more great stories to come. The fun has just begun :)

It's official...I am a resident of the state of Nevada! I passed my written re-test (apparently in the state of Nevada you can turn left at a red light if you are on a one way street and turning onto a one way street with the traffic moving to the left...crap...exactly what I said!) and got my driver's license and even registered my car and got Nevada license plates. Good bye California license and plates...I'll miss you. The night culminated in bingo playing at South Pointe where Freda's roommate won $50 (take THAT you old bags!) and dollar bowling and dollar beers. I landed in bed at 4am only to be awoken at 8am by my boss telling me to get up and get my sheriff's card stat when I didn't have to be to work until noon. If you don't know me that well (since I only have two readers, poodonkey and Jen, you know me pretty well so it's just semantics really) I DO NOT like being woken up and rushed out of bed. I was extremely cranky and not happy sitting in the fingerprint bureau for 2 hours waiting to get my card saying that I wasn't a criminal. Then I took my coworker's dog to the dogpark to practice my dogwhispering tactics on his 20 week old adorable puppy that is on crack. It was at the dogpark that I saw the smallest dog EVER. It couldn't have weighed more than 1/2 lb and looked like a piece of white cotton candy fluff. Tonight is a new episode of Top Chef so everyone root for Elia to win!

Just a note to those girls out there that like to wear pants that have something written on the ass for people to look at: If you're going to wear those pants, make the message on your ass brief or at least have an ass that fills out the message. For example, at the gym today there was a very skinny girl that was wearing black pants that said "Hollywood" on the back...however, she was so skinny that it looked more like "HoWoo." I guess not everybody can be blessed to have a booty like mine :)

Last night ended up being a pretty good night. I went to the gym and ran and then got a text from one of my friends saying that they had a V.I.P. table at Club Pure that night. I went home and changed and met up with them. It was awesome. I'm not even going to try and lie. We basically were sitting in the Pussycat Dolls' vaginas that's how close our seats were to the stage. Not to mention the evil bottle of vodka (refer to Christmas party and dancing on management incident for evil factor) that was deliciously mixed with pineapple and cranberry juice. Great music in between shows as well. Overall a great experience, minus my roommate breaking up with her boyfriend over the phone and long distance. Needless to say I didn't get much sleep but made it to work just fine. I'm starting to feel more comfortable in the kitchen and feel like I'm getting back into the swing of things. I'm getting dialed in and learning a lot of new things every day. We are supposed to have mock service tomorrow so wish me luck everybody! (and by everybody that's Jen and poodonkey, the only two people who read my blog...except for that jackie girl who insulted my slow running time a couple of blogs ago. Apparently her mom never told her that if you're not going to say anything nice, don't say anything at all!)

I like how somehow I had a day off of work today but still ended up having to go to work. I had to drop off my roommate in the morning and then I went back home to go back to sleep. I got a call a couple of hours later to come back to work to run an errand for one of the chefs. OK. Since I was out and about, I decided to go to the DMV and register my car only to find out that I didn't have acceptable forms of id. Great. I went home and grabbed what I needed and headed to another DMV. Apparently when you're under 25 you have to take the written test again where I proceeded to fail by 2 points. Lucky me, I get to go back tomorrow and try again. Ugh.
Thursday, January 04, 2007
An 11 hour work day, woo hoo! Man am I tired though. Got into work at 8am and left at 7pm. Fantastic work. We're getting so close to opening and we're doing mock service this weekend to dial in our food and plating. I had to plate up a dessert on the fly and present it to the Executive Chef...almost shit my pants as I showed it to him. Shockingly, it passed! Yay me :) It's just like riding a bike. It's all coming back to me now. I found out that I'll be working 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts and have Sunday, Monday, Tuesday off. Sweet!

Who DOES that? We went to Margaritaville and sat next to two fine gentlemen and flirted without ever saying anything. They finished their meal before us and we could tell they were writing us something on a napkin...their numbers, right? NO. The note said: "We 'heart' you" and then one guy's signature and then "Keep up the support. Rock and Roll isn't dead" and then the other guy's signature...but NO phone number. Who DOES that? Ugh. Needless to say we attempted to walk up and down the 3.5 mile strip in search of them but were unsuccesful. Mr. David R. Patch if you're reading this...holla!

Happy fuckin New Year everybody. I don't know why we thought going down to the Strip for New years would be a great idea. It started out ok by paying 20 bucks to park at Lawry's and then walk to the strip. It was kind of crowded but it was manageable. The real problem started when it got close to midnite and the massive amounts of people began pushing each other and 2 fights broke out right next to where we were standing. I seriously almost felt like I was going to die either from being stampeded upon or suffocation. Finally there was a break in the crowd and we were able to find our friends that we had lost. The supposed "fireworks show" was not as impressive as they made it out to be and you could only really see it if you were in the middle of the street and NOT standing on the sidewalk like we were. Then it took us an hour to walk back to our car where some bitch started yelling at me in the middle of the crosswalk to not stop in the middle of the crosswalk. I proceeded to yell back that it was a free country and that I could do whatever the fuck I wanted to do. At this point she threw down her massive mardi gras beads that she had around her neck and charged at me. I'm not stupid... I ran. This bitch was triple my size and there were police everywhere to protect me so why should I get my ass beat for a stupid reason? We made it home safely where I proceeded to mope that noone called me to wish me happy new years. merry 2007 everybody.
