Hello blog. It has been awhile and I really need you right now. I need to get something off my chest that has been bugging me and that's what you're really here for, right? My best friend from elementary school recently broke up with her boyfriend of about 5 years and it was pretty hard for her to deal with. I was trying to be the best friend that I could be for her and listen and offer support. However, now that she is in single-mode, she wants me to be her wingman. My boyfriend isn't too thrilled with that and it puts me in quite a situation on trying to be there for everybody. I also don't have that much money to go out and drink and eat and whatever other shenanigans could arise. I feel that because I can't be her wingman all the time that she doesn't want to hang out with me anymore. Anytime I try to see if she wants to grab coffee and catch up, she always has something planned. I tell her to let me know when she has time and she never gets back to me. She told me one time that she was my wingman when I was single and she went out while she had a boyfriend. I didn't feel that it was right to throw in her face that her boyfriend wasn't very trusting while we were out and would call and text her all the time while we were out. I'm starting to feel better already and think I can go to bed and sleep a little bit tonight after writing this down. I don't know if I should say something to her or maybe I am blowing things out of proportion. Should I just let it go and hope that she gets over it soon and meets somebody? Thanks blog for being there.

I had jaw surgery a little over a year and a half ago. I had to be at the hospital at the ungodly hour of 5am. There was really no point in getting dressed for the day and having to change into those thin little ridiculous gowns that they make you wear. Instead, I decided to wear my Fleece Red Adult Footed Pajamas from Big Feet Pajama Company http://www.bigfeetpjs.com/pajamas-sleepwear/onesies/fleece-footed-pajamas/red-fleece-adult-footed-pjs.php Let's just say that I was the envy of all those lined up and waiting for their surgery that morning! I even left the hospital the following day in my footy pajamas and although it might not looked like I was smiling due to the bandages around my face, these footie pajamas were making me smile on the inside. I guarantee that these will brighten someone's day if they are feeling down or if they are scared to go to the hospital for a major surgery. Order some today from http://www.BigFeetPjs.com They are even having a Valentine's Day special right now where you can save 15% on your order until 2/14/2010 by entering code "sweetie" at checkout!

Who wouldn't want to win a free pair of footie pajamas by simply blogging about it! Here are the rules from Big Feet Pajama Co.: http://www.bigfeetpjs.com/blog/footed-pajama-blog-contest/ Check out what potential footy pajamas you could win at http://www.bigfeetpjs.com/

WOW! So much has happened in a month. EJ and I packed up the condo and moved from Las Vegas to Westchester, CA. We're staying at my mom's house for a couple of months and then moving in to a house that my Dad owns in El Segundo, CA. It was definitely stressful and still is a little stressful at times but it will be worth it in 2010! It was sad to say goodbye to my pj job and to my boss but I am still working for the company doing their social media so I am not completely out of the loop. I was able to find a pastry job as soon as I moved back which made me feel like that this move was the right thing to do! I'm working full-time at SusieCakes in Manhattan Beach. Check out www.susiecakesla.com to see what it is all about or perhaps stop by and say hi sometime if you are in the area!

The First Annual El Segundo Grilled Cheese Invitational took place last weekend and I was invited to be a guest judge because I've been professionally trained in culinary school (very flattering and if that lets me eat as many grilled cheese as I want, then by all means!) This was hosted at my brother's house most commonly referred to as OAK. The first grilled cheese to hit our palates was a flaming hot cheeto encrusted buffalo chicken blue cheese filled grilled cheese sandwhich. By far this was the most unique entry of the night and was actually quite delicious. I wish it would have been a little crispier but overall it was a winner in my eyes but we still had many more entries to go. Ultimately, the winner ended up being a grilled cheese with apple on a croissant. Not necessarily my choice but I was apparently biased since my boyfriend entered the competition as well!

I recently attended my friend Nicole's wedding on July 4th. Ironic, I know, with the whole independence day but getting married idea. She asked me to make her wedding cake :) I made a wedding cake for my other friend and it was a little stressful but I felt that it was a great learning experience and that this time around it would be a little easier. By a little easier I truly mean a LITTLE easier. The bottom layer was carrot cake, the middle layer was going to by styrofoam (delicious!) and then the top layer was going to be carrot cake. There was a separate sheet cake that was white cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. Despite blowing out my tire on the way from Vegas to LA, I thought I was off to a good start.Baking the cakes was the easy part. Only a slight mishap where I didn't put enough eggs in and therefore the cake came out dense but delicious. The frosting was what killed me. My buttercream did not want to come together. I finally had to call it quits for the night and start fresh in the morning. After sleeping for a couple of hours I felt like I was off to a good start. We had to pick up the cake display (an entirely different ordeal in itself) only to discover that it hadn't been polished in ages. My wonderful boyfriend polished it while I finished the cake. We ran off to the wedding ceremony and then back to the house to put the finishing touches on the cake before transporting it to the reception. Once at the reception, we added the flowers and a little bit of sparkle and it was out of my hands. Then I had to wait for the reviews: EXCELLENT! Phew. Glad that it is over now and that it all turned out well. Most importantly, that the bride and groom were happy with it.
